History of Gauge Glass

Liquid levels, more specifically Tubular Gauge Glass, have their origins dating back to the early 19th century. In 1829 they were first used in steam locomotives as boiler gauges to visually insure that the water level in the boiler was maintained and prevented overheating. Tubular gauge glass still remains one of the best methods for a direct visualization of where liquid levels sit.
